Morpho bags BSI Certification for Fake Finger Detection
Biometric technology provider, Morpho (Safran) has announced that it has achieved the Common Criteria certification for fingerprint spoof detection in a biometric device. The German certification body, BSI, has certified MorphoSmart Optic 301 fingerprint which has undergone the testing process and analysis to meet the industry’s highest standards for spoof detection.
Philippe Petitcolin, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Morpho, said, With the wide deployment of biometrics and the rise in identity fraud, Morpho has been advocating the need for rigorous evaluation of anti-spoofing devices. Being the first in the world to achieve this certification is, therefore, a major milestone for us.
The MSO 301 fingerprint reader is used in a wide range of applications including access control in sensitive areas, border control and bank transactions (cash withdrawal and payment), which require the highest level of security. It integrates patented technology which analyzes specific features of the human skin to detect and reject spoofing attacks.
