NTT DATA has announced the conclusion of its company-wide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Global Volunteer Week (GVW) 2014. It has a long-standing commitment of leveraging its IT innovations and global activities to contribute to a more prosperous, sustainable society. This corporate commitment and the passion of its people are instilled in rich and diverse CSR programmes held through the year.
Aligned with the spirit and objectives of the United Nations International Volunteer Day, NTT DATA has planned a series of volunteer activities in the first week of December. This year between November 30 and December 7, NTT DATA will organize volunteer opportunities for employees to participate within their communities. These events can range from planting trees, painting schools, cleaning parks, to conducting food donations and helping the underprivileged.
“At NTT DATA, we give immense importance to CSR, and encourage employees to contribute to their local communities. While Global Volunteer Week is an annual event, we keep the spirit of giving back to society going through various CSR activities conducted all the year round,” said Yamuna Anandavalli, Vice-President – Human Resources, and India CSR Lead, NTT DATA Global Delivery Services Ltd.
In India, this is the third year of Global Volunteer Week and so far it has seen over 2,200 employees sign up for over 40 activities across six locations which include blood donation drives, material contributions, medical camps, and setting up computer labs. NTT DATA will be supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Campaign Clean India by encouraging employees to join in the drive to clean the office vicinity.
NTT DATA has been a longstanding partner with NGOs across the country like Aakriti (NCR), Bhumi (Chennai), Jagriti Blind School (Pune), SOCARE India (Bangalore), Sri Sai Old Age Home (Bangalore), Vandemataram Foundation (Hyderabad), Desire Society (Bangalore and Hyderabad). Through these NGOs, the volunteers have reached out and helped thousands of underprivileged people in our society.
