Rakesh Garg is the next Telecom Secretary

As per the latest update, Government of India has appointed Rakesh Garg as new Telecom Secretary, replacing M. F. Farooqui, who retired as the DoT Secretary on June 30 after 15 months at the post.

1980 batch IAS officer, Rakesh Garg is presently working as the Principal Secretary in Uttar Pradesh.

Prior to this, he worked at different responsible positions like Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Joint Secretary in the Department of Food and Public Distribution.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved appointment of Rakesh Garg, at present in the cadre, as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and IT. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also approved appointment of Jugal Kishore Mohapatra as the Secretary for the Department of Fertiliser.
