Report indicates Apple App Store driving Rs 44,447 cr in billings and sales in India

In 2024, the Apple App Store ecosystem in India facilitated a total of ₹44,447 crores (approximately $5.4 billion) in billings and sales, according to a study by Professor Viswanath Pingali from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. This figure underscores the significant economic impact of the App Store on India's digital economy.

Breakdown of App Store Revenue

·         Physical Goods and Services: ₹38,906 crore

·         In-App Advertising: ₹3,014 crore

·         Digital Goods and Services: ₹2,527 crore

Notably, over 94% of the total billings and sales facilitated by the App Store in India accrued solely to developers, with no commission taken by Apple. This highlights Apple's commitment to supporting developers and fostering a thriving app ecosystem in India.
