Oppo, Vivo and Samsung have announced to stop production at their respective Greater Noida factories, and will meet the Uttar Pradesh government officials tonight to discuss the future course of action as the government announces a lockdown due to the Coronavirus or Covid-19 outbreak.
Samsung has temporarily suspended production at its Noida factory, and has asked employees in operations and R&D to work from home.
Vivo has already mandated work from home for its non-factory workers from Monday to fight against the spread of coronavirus.
Telecom gear makers Ericsson and Nokia, however, are still continuing with production at their Pune and Chennai factories. Ericsson facility in Pune will be working based on social distancing principle that is 50% workforce. The work is based on exemption granted by the relevant authorities.
The PM has appealed to all establishments to not to cut salaries of employees in the present scenario.
