Sarit Maheshwari Succeeds Rajiv Gupta as the new CEO of NTPC Green Energy

 

 

 

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has announced a key leadership transition with the appointment of Sarit Maheshwari as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Key Managerial Personnel, effective May 10, 2025. This decision was approved by the company's board of directors during a meeting held on Saturday, according to a regulatory filing.

Maheshwari takes over from Rajiv Gupta, who has been repatriated to NTPC, marking the end of his tenure at NGEL. His departure and Maheshwari's appointment signal a strategic shift in the company’s management as it intensifies its focus on renewable energy expansion.

A veteran of the power sector, Sarit Maheshwari brings over 35 years of rich industry experience to the role. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, a Master’s in Power Generation Technology from IIT Delhi, and an MBA from IGNOU.

Before taking the helm at NTPC Green Energy, Maheshwari served as the CEO of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited and NTPC Rajasthan Green Energy Limited—a joint venture between NGEL and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. He has also held other senior leadership positions, including Head of Project at NTPC Korba, one of the company’s flagship projects.

His extensive technical expertise and leadership background position him well to steer NTPC Green Energy through its next phase of growth and innovation in the renewable energy space. Under his leadership, the company is expected to strengthen its strategic roadmap and contribute significantly to India’s clean energy transition.
