STC and Itron join hands for Microsoft’s City Planning Initiative
Symphony Teleca Corporation (STC) has announced its collaboration with Itron. Together, the companies have designed and developed Windows 8 and Windows RT mobile and desktop application prototype that will provide an aggregated view of a city’s resource consumption to municipal governments. The touch-optimized application can be used across devices from Windows Surface tablets to mobile phones and desktops.
Pradeep U.N., Vice-President & Global Head of Design and Innovation, Symphony Teleca, said, With Itron Insights, we are presenting energy usage, costs, location and timeframe together. This easy access helps city administrators intuitively explore a situation, making decisions based on trends and benchmarks with a single swipe of the finger: that is the power of natural user interface (NUI) in the enterprise. We are excited to be working with Itron and see this application as a powerful asset to city planners and municipal governments globally.
There is a rapidly-growing market today for smart technologies that can help cities that are struggling with budgetary restrictions become more efficient. We are thrilled to be working with Microsoft on its CityNext Initiative. Symphony Teleca’s design expertise, insight to new concepts and commitment to helping us meet our development goals has been nothing but a positive experience, said Russ Vanos, Senior Vice-President of Strategy and Business Development, Itron.
This collaboration will further help the municipal governments to transform their cities.
