While speaking at the Second International Conference “Cloud Computing India 2012” being organized by Bharat Exhibitions, Subramanian, Cloud Evangelist, Founder Director, Cloud Security Alliance Mumbai Chapter & Senior Advisor Power Exchange India Ltd., said that today the public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. should truly be Bharat Badal Nigam Ltd. After all, the entire country would be covered by broadband network in three years and the mobile phone is all set to complete the pan-India coverage by reaching out to the last 400 million people yet to get the service.
“All of you should get on to the Cloud for that is how Bharat would become modern India with every villager able to access knowledge from anywhere. The “Cloud” is what will enable medical services to store and access a billion files on genomes of the entire population of the country, or empower villagers to probe what the government they elected is doing about their welfare. Even e-commerce from villages would be possible,” said Subramanian.
“India has the highest rate of adoption for mobile, which has resulted in players in the local and international market to have their presence in the Indian Mobile operators space. In a similar way, you will soon see various service providers for Cloud Computing emerging and it is going to be the next big wave after the Mobile era. If you take a look at the Cloud Computing technology, it is nothing but providing IT-related resources such as computing, storage, network, system security, application, platform as a service,” said Shashi Dharan, Managing Director, Bharat Exhibitions.
Telecom regulator TRAI’s advisor A. Robert Jerad Ravi estimated that the global “Cloud” business opportunity would be worth 160 billion by 2015.

The critical issues which are being discussed in the “Cloud” as a business are security of customer data, concerns about interoperability between different service providers. The “Cloud” is evolving as an “Internet of things”.
