Vihaan Networks Limited (VNL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vietnam, to provide solutions for advancing rural connectivity by creating Digital Villages in Vietnam’s underserved areas.
The visiting delegation, led by Phan Xuan Dung, MP, Chairman of Committee on Science, Technology and Environmental Affairs, Vietnam, expressed interest in connecting unserved and underserved remote villages in Vietnam through solar-based Cellular and Broadband solution – a similar model developed by VNL in its model digital village - Karenda.
Dung says, “VNL’s application of solar energy in telecom equipment is commendable. They’ve demonstrated the strength of using renewable resources for advancing ICT at the grassroots level in India. Since Vietnam’s villages have the same digital requirements as India, we are confident of VNL’s expertise to help us realize our Digital Dream. We are interested in a solar-based telecom site to establish digital villages along with a public announcement system, which would yield skill development and local entrepreneurship in rural areas to create e-governance, e-health, e-education and help in disaster management scenario too, in remote communities of Vietnam. We found what we are looking for at VNL’s site, Karenda.”
A team of 13 delegates comprising 8 members of parliament, ambassador of Vietnam to India along with executive members of the Vietnam embassy visited Karenda to experience how VNL’s telecom systems changed the village by way of e-governance, e-health, e-education that has turned Karenda into a classic digital village since VNL set up a rural-optimized Wi-Fi and Broadband site in the area.
