Wankhede Claims Netflix Series Defames Him
2025-11-03
Former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede has alleged that Netflix’s web series “Ba***ds of Bollywood”* defames him by depicting a character bearing four striking similarities to his real-life persona. Wankhede has filed a defamation suitagainst Netflix, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Aryan Khan, claiming the series damages his reputation and misleads the public.
During a recent court hearing, Wankhede pointed out that one scene in the show closely mirrors his 2021 raid involving Aryan Khan, portraying him in a negative and biased manner. He also objected to a sequence where a character makes an obscene gesture after saying “Satyamev Jayate,” arguing it violates laws protecting national symbols and sentiments.
Wankhede contends that the series was produced with malicious intent to discredit him, particularly as legal proceedings related to the high-profile drug case continue. He has sought damages and an immediate ban on the series, emphasizing that its portrayal could erode public trust in law enforcement institutions.
The court has taken note of his petition, and further hearings are expected soon to determine whether the series will face restrictions or content modifications.
