WD(NASDAQ) has added another member to its mobile hard drive family. The company has started the shipping of WD Blue 7 mm hard drives, which is 2.5-inch drive offering low power consumption and 400Gs shock tolerance. The new hard drives are available in 500GB and 320GB capacities with 9.5 mm slots. These features make it ideal storage options for notebooks and Ultrabook devices.
“With more consumers going mobile, we have launched the new WD Blue 7mm to meet the storage requirements in thin and light personal computers such as in notebooks and ultrabooks,” said Khwaja Saifuddin, Senior Sales Director – Middle East, Africa & South Asia.
He further added, “WD is able to offer capacity along with reliability and data-protection features combined with excellent power management all in a slim form factor which overcomes the storage capacity limitation of SSD-based notebooks.”
To improve power consumption, WD Blue has power management features and algorithms optimization. WD’s ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. It enables quiet performance by its WhisperDrive technology. WD Blue 7 mm 2.5-inch mobile hard drives are covered by a 2-year limited warranty. MSRP for the 500GB is Rs.3,600 (plus taxes) and the 320GB is Rs.3,150 (plus taxes).
