The social Media Giant Facebook after a long test drive finally integrated the 'unsend/recall' feature on Facebook Messenger which was commonly found on WhatsApp and was introduced last year.
Just like WhatsApp, the 'unsend' feature on Facebook Messenger allows users to delete any message which they may have sent by mistake. To recall a message sent on Facebook Messenger, users will get a window of 10 minutes.
Wondering how the feature works? Here's a step-by-step guide of how to recall/unsend messages on Facebook Messenger -
1. Users need to tap on the message which they wish to delete
2. Once selected, users will get two options
One, 'Remove for everyone'
Two, 'Remove for You'
3. In case the user selects 'Remove for everyone', then the message will be replaced by text which says message has been removed by you.
The debate around the unsend feature in Facebook Messenger started last year in April when news came that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was deleting private messages after sending them. When asked about the same, Facebook confirmed that Zuckerberg's messages expired over time. After the revelation, the Facebook users demanded the company to introduce the same feature for its users as well.
It was then that Facebook announced it will create an 'unsend' feature for all its users in the coming months. This new 'unsend' feature in Facebook Messenger is available for both iOS and Android users.
Recently, it was reported that Facebook is planning to merge Instagram and WhatsApp with Facebook Messenger. The news has also been confirmed by the company. Talking about the plan, the CEO explained that he wants millions of users across the three platforms to move to a more secure and encrypted messaging platform.
