The transformation from Zomato to 'Eternal' signifies more than just a name change—it represents a bold new chapter in the company’s legacy, promising a future of endless possibilities in the digital commerce space.
Food and grocery delivery major Zomato has received the Corporate Affairs Ministry's approval regarding its name change to "Eternal Limited" with effect from March 20. The brand name of the company's food delivery business Zomato will remain the same, along with the app. However, the name of the corporate entity will change to Eternal along with the stock ticker.
The company claims that the new name will help the company distinguish clearly between its corporate identity and the food delivery app. The rebranding to 'Eternal' aligns with Zomato’s vision to create a lasting impact in the digital commerce and technology ecosystem. With its evolution from a food delivery service to a comprehensive digital ecosystem encompassing restaurant partnerships, grocery delivery, quick commerce, and cloud kitchens, the new identity symbolizes the company’s ambition to stay relevant and innovative in an ever-changing market.
The Government of India’s approval for the rebranding signifies confidence in Zomato’s growth trajectory and its compliance with regulatory frameworks. The transition to 'Eternal' is expected to streamline its operations, enhance its global brand positioning, and support its future expansions in fintech, logistics, and AI-driven food recommendations.
Under the 'Eternal' brand, the company is set to explore new frontiers beyond food delivery. With increasing investments in cloud kitchens, hyperlocal logistics, and AI-driven user experience enhancements, 'Eternal' aims to redefine how consumers engage with digital food commerce. Additionally, the company is eyeing international markets, leveraging its strong technology backbone to expand operations beyond India.
The latest exercise marks the second time that the company is rebranding itself, as the foodtech major, which was founded as Foodiebay in 2008, was renamed to Zomato in 2010.
