Actor Abhinav Shukla has spoken out about being a victim of identity theft, revealing that unknown individuals fraudulently used his PAN card to secure loans without his knowledge. The incident has sparked concern among fans and highlighted the growing threat of digital identity misuse in India.
Shukla shared that he became aware of the scam only after receiving alerts about unpaid dues on loans he never applied for. Shocked by the discovery, he immediately reported the matter to authorities and began the process of clearing his name. The actor emphasised how distressing it is to realise that personal identity documents can be exploited by cybercriminals so easily.
He also warned the public to be vigilant about safeguarding sensitive information, especially as financial fraud cases continue to rise. Identity theft involving PAN cards, Aadhaar details, and banking credentials has become increasingly common, with scammers using stolen data to open accounts, apply for loans, or conduct illegal transactions.
Shukla has urged stronger digital verification mechanisms and tighter regulatory measures to prevent such incidents. He expressed hope that his experience would create awareness and encourage people to regularly monitor their credit reports, block compromised documents and report suspicious activity immediately.
The case underscores the urgent need for improved identity protection frameworks as India accelerates its digital transformation.
