Cisco has unveiled its Agile Services Networking architecture, aiming to revolutionize service provider networks to meet the demands of artificial intelligence (AI) applications. This initiative focuses on simplifying network structures, enhancing resilience, and integrating intelligence to support AI-driven services.
The Agile Services Networking framework is designed to streamline networking by converging various network layers and services. This convergence facilitates faster deployment, reduces operational costs, and offers the flexibility to deliver services closer to end-users, thereby improving performance and efficiency.
A key component of this architecture is the introduction of new platforms powered by Cisco Silicon One. These platforms extend across access, edge, and metro networks, providing consistent control, enhanced security, and improved manageability. The new Cisco Silicon One A100 and K100 devices cater to various system configurations, ensuring scalability and adaptability.
Cisco is also advancing its coherent pluggable optics technology. The latest 400G ultra-long-haul coherent pluggable optics support connections up to 3,000 kilometers without traditional transponders. This development simplifies networks, reduces energy consumption, and converges IP and optical layers for greater efficiency.
To bolster network automation and assurance, Cisco has enhanced its Crosswork Network Automation and Provider Connectivity Assurance solutions. These tools employ predictive AI to optimize network capacity planning and resource allocation, offering comprehensive visibility across the entire network infrastructure.
Jeetu Patel, Cisco's Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, emphasized the transformative potential of AI for service providers, stating, "AI, and especially the advent of AI agents, will mean an incredible influx of new digital workers who will be working together and communicating constantly." He highlighted Cisco's commitment to equipping service providers with the necessary tools to meet the growing demand for high-bandwidth, secure, and energy-efficient connectivity.
Service providers are uniquely positioned in the AI ecosystem, managing networks that connect data generation points with AI application endpoints and operating data centers where AI processes vast datasets. Cisco's Agile Services Networking architecture aims to empower these providers to monetize AI-driven services by delivering assured networking experiences.
The architecture also focuses on delivering resilient experiences through AI-powered automation, observability, and security measures. By correlating business, service, and infrastructure events, service providers can implement closed-loop automation to optimize operations and ensure consistent service quality.
Cisco's Agile Services Networking represents a significant step toward preparing service provider networks for the AI era, ensuring they can handle the increased data volumes and performance requirements that AI applications deman
