Lenovo is soon expected to launch its first gaming smartphone later this year. A few teasers suggest that the device will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with 5G modem. This could be Lenovo’s gaming phone as it is teased with the slogan “Game On.” It is said that the handset could arrive under the name Lenovo Legion. This device will compete with the likes of Razer, Black Shark, Nubia Red Magic, and ASUS ROG other gaming phones in the market.
Lenovo is gearing up to launch its first-ever gaming-centric smartphone under its Legion brand. The company has revealed a few details about its upcoming phone through teasers, such as whopping 90W charging speeds. But a new leak seems to have got details on the phone’s design and specifications.
The screenshots captured by XDA-Developers from a promotional video shows the most striking design feature of the Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone, the side-mounted pop-up selfie camera.
This design detail makes it stand out from other phones with pop-up cameras, all housing at the top instead. A side-mounted pop-up camera may seem gimmicky to normal people, but it makes sense for gamers who stream games with their faces. Also, Lenovo likely expects users to consume most of their time playing games in landscape mode.
The rear of the device looks quite unique with the dual cameras sitting near the centre of the back panel. As seen on Lenovo’s laptops, the Legion branding is also present on the back. Interestingly, there are two USB Type-C ports: one on the left side of the phone and another on the bottom just like any other gaming smartphone, the Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone implements a wacky design choice, which the company assumes will lure the gaming enthusiasts.
It is expected to feature a 144Hz screen (no word on LCD or OLED) with 270Hz touch sampling rate. In terms of optics, the back of the device will include a 64MP primary sensor paired with a 16MP ultra-wide sensor. The single selfie shooter is expected to be 20MP. The Legion Gaming Phone is also believed to pack a massive 5000mAh battery.
