According to a recent report, Apple has planned to develop its own search technology for iPhones, as regulators scrutinize the multibillion-dollar payments that Google makes each year to ensure that its search engine is installed as a default search tool.
It is heard that, currently, Google shells out nearly 10 billion per year to be the default search engine on the iPhone and iPad. The amount reportedly accounts for 20 per cent of Apple’s Services revenue.
With the ending year and the deal too, it is heard that the deal may no longer proceed due to antitrust case against Google by the US Department of Justice regarding this deal
Also, when iPhone users with iOS 14, the latest iPhone software, reach a search window, Apple displays its own search results instead of Google’s. It also displays auto-complete style suggestions, highlighting how it is learning from users most common search queries. However, few are likely to have noticed the change.
An in-house search offering from Apple would provide the company with an alternative to Google search should authorities decide to block the partnership.
