CommScope Launches Flexible XPND Modular Fiber Termination Platform to Power Scalable FTTH Growth
2025-05-28
CommScope has officially introduced its XPND Modular Fiber Termination Platform, a future-ready solution designed to support the evolving needs of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. Now available in India, the CommScope XPND platform is a flexible, modular interface that allows telecom providers to easily adapt their active equipment to outside plant infrastructures—facilitating upgrades while protecting existing investments.
With its open and adaptable design, the XPND platform enables customizable fiber connectivity by offering a complete suite of modular components such as splice cassettes, adapter modules, optical splitters, and compatible cables. These components can be ordered and deployed independently, empowering service providers with a “pay-as-you-grow” model that aligns with dynamic network demands, particularly in expanding rural markets.
According to Erik Gronvall, VP of Strategy & Technology, CommScope, the XPND system addresses key industry challenges like fluctuating budgets, inconsistent rollout scales, and limited planning predictability. The panels are designed for minimal space usage, available in 1RU, 1.5RU, and 3RU sizes, and easily fit into standard 19-inch racks—eliminating the need for dedicated frames.
This modularity reduces SKU complexity and inventory costs while ensuring that providers can scale on demand. As fiber networks shift from dense urban areas to sparsely populated rural regions, the XPND platform delivers essential flexibility for smaller-scale deployments without sacrificing performance or future expansion capabilities.
With this launch, CommScope reinforces its leadership in network infrastructure innovation, enabling cost-effective, scalable, and easily upgradeable fiber networks to meet the increasing demands of global FTTH expansion.
